Why did you decide to join WiMS?

Joining WiMS was a personal and professional choice for me because I believe in the importance of fostering a supportive community for women in marine science especially women from underrepresented communities. This field can be challenging, and having a network that champions diversity and inclusivity is vital for both personal and professional growth.

Each of the members of the SC are appointed for 3 years. What would you like to achieve during your time in the Steering Committee?

During my time on the Steering Committee, I aim to enhance mentorship opportunities, increase visibility for women in marine research, and create more collaborative platforms for sharing knowledge and resources. I hope to contribute to initiatives that empower women to take on leadership roles in the marine sciences.

Why should women marine scientists join WiMS?

Women marine scientists should consider joining WiMS because it offers a unique opportunity to connect with peers, gain access to resources, and engage in advocacy for issues that matter to us. Being part of a community that prioritizes women’s voices can significantly enhance career development and foster lasting collaborations.
