We are excited to feature one of our inspiring speakers for our upcoming webinar in Celebration of International Women’s Day 2025—Loubna Hamidi.

As a dedicated Environmental and Climate Change Adaptation Expert, Loubna has made significant strides in the blue sector, focusing on the sustainable use of coastal and marine ecosystems.

Currently serving as a Nature-Based Solutions Officer for the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) in the Comoros-Moheli seascape, Loubna’s work centers on empowering governments, stakeholders, and local communities. Her mission is to maximize the benefits derived from nature while ensuring the protection of our precious marine environments.

In addition to her role at IUCN, Loubna is a Young Women Negotiator with the African Group of Negotiators (AGN) on Climate Change, advocating for inclusive policies that support women and girls in the blue economy.

As the Vice President of the Steering Committee for the Network for Women in Marine Science, she actively promotes women’s and youth involvement in marine science education. Loubna emphasizes the importance of fostering research through scientific projections and analysis, ensuring that the voices of future generations are heard.

Beyond her professional responsibilities, Loubna is a passionate advocate for coastal and marine environmental conservation. She engages in impactful campaigns that highlight the vital role women must play in decision-making processes concerning environmental sustainability.

Loubna holds a Master’s degree in Climate Change and Sustainable Development from the University of Dar es Salaam and a degree in Earth and Environmental Sciences from the University of Comoros.
